Three Egyptian performances will be staged during Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre.

The CIFET supreme Committee, headed by Dr. Sameh Mahran, has announced the participation of three Egyptian performances in the 30th edition run September 1st to 8th.

The committee tasked with watching the Egyptian Performances selected two performances out of ninety submitted applications to compete in the festival’s official competition: “The Man Who Was Eaten by Papers” by Mohamed El Hadry as a director and dramaturge on the story of William Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice.”. “For Heaven’s sake, Icarus” written by Benedikt Neustein, Claus Overkamp, and Christian Schaidlowsky, prepared and translated into Arabic by Mohamed Elhagrasy, and directed by Ahmed Ezzat Elalfy.
The festival’s supreme committee chose “Frida”, produced by Egyptian Modern Dance Theatre Company, choreographed and directed by Sally Ahmed to participate in the out of competition section.

Rania Fathallah, Dr. Muhammad Zaima, Ahmed Khamis, Ahmed Abdel-Razek Abu El-Ela, Rana Abdel-Qawy, Abeer Ali, Mohamed El-Rouby, Dr. Yasser Allam, Dr. Amr Dawara, and Zizi Al-Masry, as committee rapporteur, serve on the committee tasked with watching the Egyptian performances.
The CIFET supreme Committee had announced hosting eight workshops on various theatrical elements during the thirtieth edition, which are:
“Character Sketching” facilitated by Luke Lehner.

“Meisner: The Meisner Technique workshop” facilitated by Nadim.

“Extended Rehearsal” facilitated by Nora Amin.
“Playback Theatre for Actors: Expression & Embodiment” facilitated by Dahlia Sabbour .
“Fundraising” facilitated by director Ahmed El Attar.
“Music of the body and stage” facilitated by music critic, Professor Dr. Yasmeen Farag .
“Improvisation: How to utilize the Creative energies of the performers” facilitated by Dr. Engy El-Bestawy.
“The inspiring performer: Fundamentals and principles of improvisational Theatre”, facilitated by Ramzy Lehner.
Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre is one of the oldest and most renowned international Arab festivals, specializing in the presentation of experimental theatrical performances from around the world. The festival honors a number of international figures involved in experimental theatre arts and awards prizes for outstanding performances in a variety of theatrical fields.
