CIFET will hold a press conference to announce the details of the 30th edition next Tuesday, August 22, at 6:00 p.m. in the Supreme Council of Culture’s conference hall, at the Egyptian Opera House, in the presence of Dr. Sameh Mahran, the festival’s president Dr. Mohamed El Shafei, the festival’s general coordinator, and the festival’s directors, Dr. Dina Amin and Dr. Ayman Al-Shewi, along with members of the Supreme Committee and heads of the executive committees. The festival’s media center director, critic Mustafa Al-Kilani, will be running the conference.
The conference will reveal festival details, including the announcement of all participating performances and how they were selected, the artists to be honored during the opening ceremony, the seminars and intellectual frameworks, and the members of the jury committees.
The conference is being held under the auspices of Dr. Nevine El Kelany, Minister of Culture. Dr. Sameh Mahran, Festival president Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahman El Shafei, General Coordinator Dr. Dina Amin and Dr. Ayman Al Shewi, Directors, along with Dr. Ahmed Megahed, Dr. Asmaa Yahya Al-Taher, Dr. Mohamed Samir Al-Khatib, and Ahmed Elbohy, Theatre Director, serve on the festival’s supreme Committee.
From among 90 Egyptian performances, 87 Arab performances, and 88 foreign performances submitted for the festival’s 30th edition, some were selected to compete in the festival’s official competition. CIFET 2023 is scheduled from September 1st to September 8th.
The festival’s supreme committee selected “Charlie”, written by Dr. Medhat El Adl and directed by Ahmed El Bohy, director of the festival’s opening ceremony, to kick off the 30th edition. The play tells the story life of an icon in the world of cinema, one of the fathers of the genre of comedy, and The Silent Film Era, starring Mohamed Fahim in the title role of “Charlie Chaplin”, Nour Qadri, Ayman Al-Shewy, and Emad Ismail.
