The 30th Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theater features eight Arab performances.
CIFET has announced the list of Arab performances participating in the 30th edition.
The Committee tasked with watching and selecting CIFET 30th edition performances, headed by Dr. Sameh Mahran, has announced the list of Arab performances that will compete in the festival’s official competition this year, run September 1 to 8.
The Committee for Watching Arab Performances selected eight performances out of 87 applications to participate in the festival: -Al Roba and Mayrawesh (Tunisia), Al-Sayed wa Al-Abd or Master-slave (Bahrain), Sadiq Al-Namak (Saudi Arabia), Ventolin of Return (Palestine), Kaemat Al Khadeej (UAE), File number12 (Iraq), and Nostalgia (Algeria).
The Committee tasked with watching and selecting CIFET Arab and Foreign performances is made up of members of the Festival’s supreme Committee: Dr. Sameh Mahran, President Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahman El Shafei, General Coordinator Dr. Dina Amin, and Dr. Ayman Al Shewi, Directors, along with Dr. Ahmed Megahed, Dr. Asmaa Yahya Al-Taher, Dr. Mohamed Samir Al-Khatib, and Ahmed Elbohy, Theatre Director.
The festival’s Supreme Committee had announced that “Charlie” directed by Ahmed El-Bohey and written by D. Medhat El-Adl, would open the festival. Mohamed Fahim plays the title role in the play, which is a biography of world superstar Charlie Chaplin.
The Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre is one of the oldest international Arab festivals, supporting experimental theatrical performances from around the world. It honors some world figures associated with experimental theatre. Awards are given for the best theatrical performances in various fields. On the festival’s sidelines a number of seminars specialized in theatre arts and techniques are held.
